JEET KUNE DO

Jun Fan Jeet Kune Do is a non-classical method of self-defense. Through years of research, the late Bruce Lee developed JKD with the use of scientific methods and philosophy. It is a practical martial art composed of kicking, hand strikes, trapping, grappling and energy/sensitivity. Focus is on simplicity and directness, protecting the center-line and simultaneously defending while attacking transforming into interception of attacks. All ranges are covered.

MATSUMURA KENPO

Damaibushi Martial Arts LLC is providing traditional training in Okinawa Shorin Ryu Matsumura Kenpo Karate. The emphasis is not on sport karate, and it is not a MMA class. This is a martial art that is very complex and involved and by design must be learned slowly over a long period of time. This is as old school training as you can get. It is an art that can, and should be, practiced for life.

KIDS SELF DEFENSE AGES 5-14

Sching Da Do “The New Way” is a child-oriented version of Jeet Kune Do to teach life skills, stranger danger and to stop bullying. True martial arts teaches children not to fight but how to stay away from dangerous behavior, stay calm in dangerous situations and control their own force onto others. Independent studies show that children who study martial arts develop respect, goal oriented behavior, academic discipline, success and self-confidence. We teach students character education through the Student Creed and the principles of Black Belt Excellence. It is our goal to teach the martial arts in a way that is fun and a scientific learning progression based on childhood development, while teaching effective self-defense.

WING CHUN KUNG FU

Tenets of Wing Chun include practicality, efficiency and economy of movement. Practitioners are sometimes encouraged to sense the energy behind their movements. The core philosophy becomes a useful guide to practitioners when modifying or refining the art. Wing Chun teaches practitioners to advance quickly and strike at close range. It is a foundation of technique and application found commonly in fighting science. Ip Man Wing Chun is practiced in respect to Bruce Lee’s own instructor and salutes Bruce Lee’s teachings of simplicity and efficiency.

FILIPINO MARTIAL ARTS

Weapons at DFMAC Defense are derived from Filipino martial arts and military combat. It reflects the concept of how to practically defend against current criminal actions. Weapons used in class represent what is more likely to be at hand in a self-defense situation. Stick training also increases body awareness and flow when transferring to open hand application. Criteria includes: Knife/Counter knife Combatives, SDMS, Single and Double Handed Stick/Club Impact Weapons, Pacific Archipelago Combatives, Longer Weapons Tactics and Counter Grappling. This course is continuously updated to current criminal threats. Train better than your enemy.

1. Arrive 10-15 minutes before class time. Make sure all jewelry is removed and safely stored. Turn cell phones off. Bathrooms are available to change clothes.

2. Be clean, respectful and presentable. All classes require tshirts, pants or school uniforms. Only MMA classes allow shorts. No tank tops, sleeveless or ratty clothes. Women must avoid clothing that can expose cleavage during training.

3. Always respect your instructor. Ask senior students for help before the instructor if possible.

4. Always observe “partner preservation.” Let instructors and your partner know of any past injuries or physical limitations before engaging in a drill. You can’t train if you get hurt. New members are never allowed to spar.

5. You are required to purchase all training equipment within 90 days of your membership start date.

6. At each class, train like it’s your last.

Be committed to come to class as often as possible, minimal 2 days a week. Call or text to let us know if you won’t make it. You are still responsible for tuition payments even if you miss class (only special circumstances apply).
